ponderosa pine?

i went and picked up a trailer load of pine saturday. a whack if you will.
they were planted in town years ago. the man said they were ponderosa pine. i found a limb while loading the logs and noticed the needles were very long. i am saying maybe 8 inches or so.

? is does this sound like the correct tree. the needles are single needles. most of my pine i cut seem to be way shorter needles and in groups of 3 maybe.

i know i am not using the correct terms here but maybe you knowlegdeable folks will correct me. thanks.

Doesn't sound like pondo. Maybe more of a southern pine?

Ponderosa needles are in bundles of 3, sometimes 2 like slash pine, and the needles are 5" to 10" long.  The bark looks different to me from the southern pines, more orange in the seam and more platy looking.
