They got me again!
« on: October 08, 2003, 08:09:30 pm »
I was into my chainsaw dealer late last year and left the saw to have a new chain adjuster pin, bar and chain installed.
I remember they had trouble fitting the bar and they tried a couple before the mechanic found one to fit.
I didn't second guess them and have used the saw a few times since.
Tonight I'm looking at the chain and I see wear on the bottom of the links.
I check the bar and it fits the mounts and the pin adjuster well but it doesn't line up with the oil slot at the back.
I check the mount numbers on the bar and they're D009.
My saw takes a K095 bar.
It pays to know your equipment and double check it, I wish I had checked it sooner.

That's ridiculous.  And you're right, it does pay off to have a real good idea of how your stuff works, and what kind of parts things take.  If you want a few big guys to take that back to the dealer with ya...
Senior Member?  That's funny.

Actually they're pretty decent, I'll see if they will exchange the bar and chain but I'll have to see how good their memory is first.   :D

Kevin -  Since I'm a newby I downloaded all the info on my saw from Husky and also Oregon.  Take it with me when I go shopping so that I know if what they are recommending agrees with what the manufacturer and aftermarket producers are publishing.  Sometimes new (read inexperienced)  employees try to fit square pegs into round holes. Hope you receive the customer service that we all expect and don't always get. ;D

Stopped in this morning, the gal remembered the trouble they had fitting the bar, she gave me a new bar and chain to replace what was on the saw and ordered a new bar to replace the new spare  that I had also bought.
We're back in business now.  :)

That sounds like a dealer you could get to like. I do not mind mistakes, I just hate being left out and hung to dry, so to speak.
