Here's a video of a skidder. Works some by remote control. I like the grapple on the front for decking wood.

I thought this was a good looking small machine.

looks like its really expensive to buy and maintain. just imagine haveing to fix somthing on that. ill keep the TJs, TFs, Deeres, Clarks, franklins, etc that all you need is a wrench to fix.

it does look like fun though. id drive it til it breaks.

it reminds me of a awassos or turboforest skidder but a little bit bigger, like everyone said i bet its expensive to own i bet parts are hard to get too. the blade grab would be handy for stacking at the deck and carrying away slash back to the woods

The Awassos sold for about $85,000 so I'd say this thing is pushing $125,000 if not pulling it a little. The limb sweeps are too lite and the general lack of brush protection (by that I mean a metal cage around the cab to protect the windows) would be a real issue for me.

I am now thinking we are both way under in $$$, I could almost add another $72,500 to my guess, after reading the specs sheet.

It does seem like a wicked nice machine. It does say it has a safety cab but that does nothing for the glass and the wiper on the window.

That thing is a joke. If any man would pay $120K for that, he deserves it. I'll take an old bone 648D or even my poor old twig farmer over that any day of the year.....and spend the other $80K on booze and women of low moral values.

Worth more than the 100 acre woodlot with sawlog prices less than pulp price 3 years ago. You couldn't cut enough wood to pay for it before you had to get a new one. I've seen a lot of expensive small harvest machines at small woodlot shows and I never saw any ever purchased in these parts. In fact I've seen a lot of old iron reworked and remodeled into something that works and has no monthly payment attached.

That's what I don't understand. They market things like this to the small woodlot owner but set the price so high no one could afford them. How do they expect to stay in bidness

Appears treefarmer87 isn't interested in buying a Wood Skidder....

I suspect it will find a place in the hearts of some who can afford it, for what it does for them.

somone needs to make a cheap small skidder that people can buy new, at a reasonable price. the aswossos and its predicesor were both scary expensive. this woody will drain your bank account just lookin at it.

no one loggin with a 440, or C4, or 230 can buy a new comperable machine. parts arent hard to find now because so darned many of them were made, but nothing lasts forever. how many are lost every year to fires, scrap yards, and just plain neglect?

if you could make a machine with a 100hp, a transmission from a truck(so you can get parts and replacements), and a cab that will meet most states saftey requirements, and a price that doesnt require a second mortgage, you would be in business. it wouldnt be hard to use popular tractor components (engine, drivelines, axles, hydraulics, etc) on a tougher chassis. especialy deere, they are known for parts availiblity to begin with and they have the dealer network.

there must not be a demand, or its impossible to manufacture one affordably priced.
