What do you have, where did you get it, and how much did you pay for it?

Pics are a bonus.

Runner, kinda depends on how much cutting your planning on doing. If you cut on and off like most of us something simple will do, a long sawhorse with gaps at your desired legnth and your chainsaw works well.Big time operators usally chip or have an automated cutter.Alot of mills just pile them up and sell them random legnth.Frank C.

I have a flat belt run buzz saw that came from a farm auction 36" blade used to cut slabs into firewoood and I have a jump saw that has a 12" blade that is used to slabs to length for resawing into driers. My resaw is a single blade edger/rip saw that I rebuilt.  Also have 2 more buzz saw that I picked up here and they all were bought for less then 100$. I like old equip. and I like to use it not always the best way to do things but it is a learning exp.

The bigger buzz saw is what I would like to do.  Just looking for ideas, I cut a lot with a 12" chop saw now.  I just am finishing a new saw building and want to have a dedicated saw for slabs.

When you boys say 'slabs' are you meaning the waste trimmed off a log?

Down here we call slabs this

and the waste I call trim cuts or flitches. Trim cuts are the bits you take of the edge which have two or more sawn faces, a flitch is a piece with one sawn face - sometimes used for rustic furniture like bench seats etc.

The other way around...(you are upside down, down there... ;D ;D )

Flitches normally are two sawn faces.

Slabs normally are one sawn face, and the waste from the first cuts to square up a log.

But slabs term gets used in different ways, for sure.
