Brush guard for the front of the sled.

Needed to STEAM BEND a 12 foot piece in an 8 foot steamer. ;D

This is quite a project  8) 8) 8) BUT, if'n ya don't hurry up and get it finished, you WILL have to go to the Arctic to do yer test runs and tuning.  ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

Can't rush, no room to work. That 12' stick stretched the capacity of the shop in order to make the round turn around the former. :D :D

Oh, don't worry, I already took the sled out through the door and for a little test on the snow yesterday. ;D

Seems that you built new doors for a barn, and painted them green, NO ???  If I had a problem with a shop being too small, I would be in that barn working  ::) ::) ::) ::) :D :D :D

I am..."in that barn working"  :D :D :D

2/3rds of the floor space of that barn is stuffed with lumber (above and below) and stove wood, wood splitter and a 24 foot canvas back cedar framed canoe. You forget it's cold in the north?  ;D :D

Besides, whose in a hurry? Not me. ;)

That's the overflow from the steam chest.  The toilet is just around the corner of the barn. :D

That sled might look good coming down Mars Hill.
Is that what you call your side of it?
Have someone take the video. ;D

:D I wouldn't get stopped until I hit mid town. By then I'd be a wreck, in more than one sense. :D

Of course a sled brake would help. I'm still thinking on the proper setup for that. I have an idea in my mind, just need to draw it out for my fabricator. ;D

Yup, we call it Mars Hill on this side to. ;)

I'm sticking to the nice gentle slopes of home. :)

We'll see what we can come up with for video, but can't promise much. ;D

A little further along.

Brush guard, decking, and rear hand rail. Going to linseed the joints tomorrow and begin painting Monday. I've got to carve or round over the rear handles on the top rails. Then I have to put my Teflon shoes on, which I already have ready to slap on.  ;D

I need to disassemble my 12" planer to get at the bearings. I think one is gone, seized up. Been in service 17 years and planed a lot of hardwood. Probably packed with sawdust, maybe not. Don't know how sealed off it is in there. I have the parts/assembly diagrams. :)

Traditional would be some type of varnish like on snow shoes because of the leather bindings. It would be treated annually when the leather was dry or at least a couple times a season in heavy use. I'm going to paint mine red. I know I know. ;)
