MS 362?
« on: January 04, 2010, 10:55:39 am »
Does anyone have any reviews on the MS362?  How is the power increase over the 361?  I know the weight is a little more than the 361, but just wanted to hear from you guys what you thought?

Another random question.  Does anyone sell aftermarket chainsaw parts, like different handles or whatever really?

From another post of mine here on FF, the Stihl 361) vs. the Stihl 362):

Power:    1) 4.4 bhp           2) 4.6 bhp *Note that the EU 361 has 4.6 bhp, the same as the US 362 (purely a muffler issue).
Weight:   1) 12.3 lb            2) 13.0 lb
P/Wt:      1) 0.358 bhp/lb    2) 0.354 bhp/lb
Smooth:  1) 2.9/3.6 m/sē    2) 3.5/3.5 m/sē  left/right (362 is not much smoother, if at all)
Price:      1)$610                2)$690 *same dealer with same size bar and chain, prices vary in the US

On the 362 they also added the centrifugal air filter system.

Aftermarket parts on the 362 are not going to be available for some time. Baileys has some good parts for Stihl saws (they are a sponsor here). Ebay is a good source of parts (many types of Stihl parts are listed there). The Stihl dealers are also good place to buy a lot of parts and many are actually cheaper than buying online with shipping. For example an 026 cylinder gasket at the Stihl shop here is only $3.  I also get my Stihl loops at the dealer. Cheaper than shipping.
I ship Stihl saws down under and to north Europe... message me for details.

Thanks for the review.  If anyone else has any I wouldnt mind hearing them too.

I have done a fair amount of searching for stihl parts and basically all I find a stock stuff.  Im not looking trying to improve the preformance of my saw, I have a 390, just wondering if they sell different handles, different shrouds, just about anything to kinda personalize the saw a bit if you know what I mean.

Well, over on AS and TW I have posted some good threads about 361 upgrades and options, with all the factory part numbers. Dual dog and roller options, 3/4 wrap, PNW side cover, rim swaps, etc. Do a Google search on 'MS361 options and mods' and they will come up.
