Hydro Ax 311B For Sale
« on: December 28, 2009, 01:17:33 am »
I have a Hydro Ax 311B with a quick attach plate with both a 16 inch shear head and a Timbco 24 inch bar saw head. It has a nearly new John Deere complete engine, about 75 % good tires (23.1's), and a new clutch plate. It has seen very little use for many years and is in excellent shape.

I will have to take some pictures as I can't find any right now.

PM me for more information.

Wow that motor is clean Gary! What are you asking for that machine? Looks like maybe it has a shear head and a saw head? I loved running those Hydro Axes up in the frozen spruce swamps in MN. Snip, Snip, Snip ...then up to the slasher/delimber with the grapple skidder. Good times...

That engine was a complete new drop in just before I bought it. Runs great.

Yes it has a 16 inch shear head with new knives and a 24 inch Timbco bar saw head. Even has a pair of extra cylinders for the head tilt on the machine. I've never used the shear head but the guy I bought it from was shearing 50-60 cords per day of Aspen in front of a processor. I used the bar saw head in some hardwood thinnings and cut some Red Oak up to 24 inches  and a lot of Aspen up to 16-18 inches and 80 footers.

The complete package is listed for $26.5K on another site and I'll consider offers. Might even deliver if it wasn't too far.

Gary, our problem cutting cedars is that they need to be cut within an inch or two of the ground.  The trees always have ingrown bark and that means there is sand to deal with.  Not enough that you can see, but you will dull a chainsaw after a few cuts.  What do you think of putting a carbide chain on instead of a regular chain?
The trees are getting too big for our 20" shear.
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

The cut of the bar is 4" from the bottom of the sawhead. that is a low stump for a larger diameter tree. This saw runs 11bc chain, not regular chainsaw chain the tooth is 3/4" long with 11bc chain. it does not dull easily. You would not need to run a carbide chain.

I found one of thewe the other day for 3,500 with a parts machine. It has the circle saw on it. The machine was running but had a motor go bad so the took the motor out of another and they hooked the hyraulic lines up for the tranny and dont know which they have did wrong. It blows the seals when you try and run it. I am wanting to get get my hands on it soon as i can. But i am needing to get the books on the machine to figure out whats what on it.

I am not really sure, but guessing it weighs between 24 and 28,000 lbs. I have hauled it on my old 24 ft gooseneck trailer but it may have been too heavy for that 23,000 lb rated trailer.

I'm just dreaming at this point, but I'd like to get into a feller buncher this winter or the next. I'll look you up if you still have it then, it looks like a pretty tight machine.
