hickman county tennessee has some interesting names for towns some are spot only sheboss and several more. they say say that sheboss got that name because years ago an old lady ran a trading post and she had an old indian working for her and if anyone asked him anything he would answer she boss.

If you stop by the Chamber of Commerce in nearby Conway you can get yourself a t-shirt! :) I got one as a gift while visiting for work a few years back. There's an annual celebration called Toad Suck Daze.

I think I'll have to leave time in the itinerary next year to take photos of funny place names.

Mind you, near me we have Mudgeeraba, Moorooka, Tingalpa and Tarragindi etc...

 I loved it when my cousins were here from the USA and tried to pronounce the names, boy that was fun!

Asy, I stayed in a hotel in Wooloomooloo when I was there in April, 1969.  The locals in Sydney pronounced it, "Wullamaloo."  It was a lot more peaceful than areas like King's Cross in that era, and peaceful was what I was looking for.  I had had about all the excitement I wanted for a while. ::) :D

Your Country is beautiful and magnificent, and I enjoyed seeing a little bit of it. ;)

Hey DanG, it sure is a fantastic place. I'd say I was sorry I didn't know you then, but I wouldn't have been much good in the visitin' with department, since I was only born in March '69...    :D :o
