HQ and the Petit Mecatina Hydro Project
« on: November 12, 2009, 07:06:05 pm »
Well it looks like in the next 3 to 4 years HQ will be developing 2 dams on the Petit Mecatina River.
This will involve a road going inland to those dams. We are looking at opening up an area to some very good timber.

There are lots of old growth very large spruce.I have visited the area a few years ago by helicopter and was amazed at the quantity of timber. Lots of very nice birchas well

The upper dam will involve flooding a fairly large area and how to put pressure on HQ to make sure all the timber is removed before the water rises will be a daunting but interesting project.

I think that as soon as the road starts to be built there should be plans in place to use in one form or another the every  tree cut down. If you cannot do this you should not be allowed to proceed. The amount of money to be made by HQ on this project is more than enough to make sure that if you flood an area there should be no trees left on that ground.

Hydro electric projects are seen as green energy lets make sure they are as green as possible.

What I need now is the services of a good forester to make sure this happens this way. I should have studied forestry in school and now I'm too old to go back .

What a beautiful part of the country, how close will the proposed dams be to your place?

The upper dam will be about 100 klm up the river so about 125 from where we live
