My grandpa bought a planner and molder. He asked me to see if I can find some pricing for custom work. I have no idea. Anyone know of a web site or anything to help thanks all. Semo

Local shop prices on finish planing, as opposed to rough planing are around $.25 bd ft and moulding around $.37 a linial foot.  Hope it helps.

Best way to make the most money with a portable mill is to cut the least lumber you can.

solidwoods,
your post is very interesting, somewhat confusing.
  my prices are as follows:
 sawing-.20 bf
 k.dry-.20bf
 s1s, s2s,s4s,any patterns (softwood .18bf) (hardwood .25bf)
  ripping .12bf
  making floor .35bf
 defecting for floor .20bf
 endmatching .20bf ( 12'' min. 16' max. length)
widths do not matter(no up charge)
volume   same thing (no up charge)
for me, the less pricing options the less my customers are confused

Oaks Lumber:
What do you charge for logs to flooring, random width, random length, square end (not end matched)?
Am I'm reading your price list correct its $.75sf ?
That's milling .20  kd .20  making flooring .35  = $.75

red oaks,

A board foot is a square foot (12" x 12" x 1").

only in the rough form, once you start maching on the wood it changes. example a 1X6 8' is 4 b.f. make 5" cover floor it drops to 3.33 sq. ft you can't foget the tongue it still is part of the board but, doesn't add to the width of cover

Oaks,
So do you charge per board foot before milled, matched trimmed? Just curious. Since as you said "you can't foget the tongue it still is part of the board "
