If what you have is really Arsenal, it shouldn't hurt the pines.   I injected arsenal with 3 oz. per gal. as I recall.  I think the spray formulation was 1 oz. per gal.

Here is a PDF that suggests .6 oz. per gal for a .5% solution to use on mixed hardwoods and pine.

Arsenal is quite deadly to broadleaf plants, but be patient.  Apply in a strong growing period to get the plant to take it up.  It will be dead a long time before it realizes it.  You may see several spurts of growth, but it will be of no avail.  Arsenal is good.

There is new chemical being tested for tallow called clearcast.  It is selective only for tally and just a few other hardwoods.  If it works as touted, it will be a miracle chemical for the Gulf Coast where chinese tallow is taking over the hardwood forests.  It is supposed to be able to be sprayed broadcast and it will kill tallow while leaving the vast majority of hardwood unaffected.  Check out this link:

http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/our_offices/parishes/Beauregard/News/New+Herbicide+to+Control+Chinese+Tallow+Tree.htm

If you are spraying pine to control hardwood, then it may not matter if you also control the other hardwood along with the tallow, so arsenal may be just what you need.  The label will tell you how to apply it.

They're also called a "popcorn tree" because of the seed pods split open and are white inside. They're really bad, very hard to control w/o use of major herbicides. I've got ten or more on the fence line on my small lot (not even half an acre). I cut them all down to at least three foot stump height (couldn't go lower on a lot of them because the chainlink fence was deeply embeded in the trunks and didn't want to replace the fence. They were 12 - 18 inch dbh when cut. Now each stump is a multi-trunk tree with twenty to thirty ft tall growth...

I need to get some Arsonel or Clearcast and get rid of these things.

Tallow is bad news in the coastal plain.  In a newly cut or disturbed area, they can seed in and become 95% of the new landscape.  The seeds, or popcorns, are pretty much worthlessfor anything, even for wildlife.  The plant is a scourge.
