I am looking at buying a John Deere 640 skidder and cannot find wwhere to check tranny oil level.Thanks for any info that you  all may have.

I think its a small door down by your feet when your sitting in the cab  if i remember correct

It depends on what model. Straight 640's and D models have the Hydrualic and tranny on the same stick. From the E models on up, the are behind a little door under the actual door on the right side. You will also find I believe 4 grease points as well.

On a 640, sitting in the seat it would be on the right side, open up the engine panel and all the way up by what would be a firewall you will find a dipstick that is both hyd. and trans.
