With your guess and if you think about what that stuff looks like on the ground, you have a good start at getting it.

That stuff is bad. We were at Auburn two weeks ago and that stuff was real bad. My S I L was all stuffed up and could hardly breath. Their garage was full of that stuff from the tree across the street. We have those trees down here, but I have never seen that much " cotton" coming from them.

I'd never saw it that thick from just a couple trees before either. That's what prompted me to take the photos. it must have all come down during a dead calm. Lots of reasons to hate that stuff. I hate it when trying to fish on a lake that has had the cotton dropping in it. It gets caught on your line and makes a real mess. I hate it because of allergies. I hate what it does to the screens on the house. When its bad, it's like lint on a dryer vent. We've cleaned our screens here in Harrison 3 times now and the stuff is still blowing around out there.

The older I get the worse my allergies became. I’m to the point where I have to take something everyday. Used to take Nasonex and various other prescription drugs because over the counter stuff didn’t have the strength to help me. Doc clued me in to Cetirizine...it’s otc, but only at Sam’s club. $18 for 350 pills. One a day and I am no longer bothered from allergies. Well, almost true...my eyes get irritated on high pollen count days and I have to use eye drops.
Thought I would pass it along as some of the prescription drugs I took did work...but they were a might expensive.

Balsam poplar rains down that fruit fluff to, soon after the dandelions are done. Regular aspen doesn't seem to bust apart as bad it seems.

Western black cottonwood is just about the same thing as our balsam poplar in the east. Same balm smell and gummy buds.

I remember being a kid, going to our park, it had loads of cotton wood trees, there were times the grass couldnt bee seen through the seeds it seemed. (BIG trees took several kids to reach around holding hands.)
last time I was down at that park they were all gone, replaced by a few small blue spruce, and socker fields. was hot as can bee with all shade gone...

Couple a' fingers of Old Hickory might trump the Benadryl.
