It's funny about those northern red oak. I have some seedlings that are scarlet red in fall, they came from down in Bear Island, 50 miles down river. The local ones on the woodlot that the wildlife planted go from yellow to brown in no time, some red mixed in though, but not all that colorful. The garden has a lot of those scarlet colored ones that look nice when the raspberry leaves turn red to. ;D

All over and done with for this year though. ::)

Pre-commercial thinning pays off. :)

I will be very much interested in what the shape of those leaves look like in 3 to 5 years. I have some red oak seedlings here that look like red oak by leaf shape, but are scarlet red in the fall. My local wild red oak go yellow in the fall.

I know, beating a dead horse. :D
