Sharping ban blades( sort of long )

I was talking to the guy that saws my logs and he has spent
a lot of time and money trying to sharping his own blades.
I asked if any one in the KC area does this service beside
TimberKing and he said no. Any one know of a co in the
KC Mo area that does this service ?

Then i got to thinking how much would is coast to set up a
sharping service ? I could do that after work and on the week
ends. He said that WM charges 6.00 a blade plus shipping.
What do you sawer pay for sharping or do you do your own?
I have looked at some of the sharping grinders and tooth
setters and seens i could git started for about $4.000. Would
like some of your thoughs. Is there enough ban saws in this
area to make it pay for self in time? Thanks for any info from
a great place.

I sharpen my own bands with WM's sharpening equip. but if I was going at it as a business venture, I would be looking at a commercial grinding / setter setup that uses a diamond grinding wheel.  I feel that if you do a good consistant job, once word gets out, you'll be quite busy.

I purchased a new auto sharpener and setter in 99 when I upgraded to the LT-40 super.  I enjoy using it. Just make sure you dress the grinding wheel after 2 light grinds on the blade and you'll get a nice sharp band.

The diamond wheel that WM uses in their resharp operation would be really great, the whole profile cut in one swoop of the wheel. Someday.
