Try uccoatings.com. They will give you a list of dealers or will sell direct. Ordered mine from them and they provided very fast service and called me later to get my reaction.

Bailey's is another great place to buy end sealer from (and they're a FF sponsor to boot!).

It's not in their catalogs, and I can't find it on their website. We could use some as well.

I've gotten mine from UC coatings also, great service and fast shipping.  We use the blue colored stuff just so we know which ones we've done and can tell if there is enough on them.

I used my last gallon yesterday, UC direct is where I get mine. Great product and liek everyone says GREAT service, if you will use it slowly, they have a winterized version that does better at below freezing temps.

RE the Bailey's product, do a search on "End sealer" on their web site and it will take you to the product.

We use a product called LandArk, they make an end sealer that I think works better than Anchor Seal and it is all natural. You can reach them at (803) 279-4116 they are out of South Carolina. Its a great product!

i do'nt know how to get much better than anchorseal.  I unloaded the solar kiln tonight that had been loaded with sopping wet 6/4 red oak, and only one board had a serious check in it out of around 400bf.  I didn't even notice checks in the other boards.

Anchorseal works.  I wish they were a sponsor here.

I spoke to the UC folks today, thought about saying something about sponsoring, but you know,.. some products and businesses just don't need to advertise, I am not sure they even have a distributor network (seems they said once it can only be bought direct, but I could be wrong). The product is SO good AND the users such a "narrow" field that everyone just seems to know, and seek them out. Wouldn't that be nice!!!. Anyhow, I will ask, but boy, I doubt they would.

I did talk to the folks at Bailey's today and THANKED them for sponsoring.

They should sponsor just because they get such good press :).

Reid,

I think that your idea of presenting to them the opportunity to become a sponsor is a fine one.  How many times do you see posts about people wanting to use latex paint to seal logs?  Well, in my learning curve, I too used latex paint, and it sucks.

Anchor seal is better than sliced bread in my opinion.  They should hang out their shingle here.

I use Anchor Seal, and also a product from Associated Chemists Inc.; K-7002 Clear Wax Sealer.

I use the ACI product for 90% of my logs. It performs well and is WAY less $. I buy it by the pallet to get an even deeper discount. I was even going to private label the stuff at one time and got to the point where all they were waiting on was my logo. In the end I came to my senses and realized another project was the last thing I needed. But that should tell you what I think of this stuff I was willing to put my name on it literally.

I really like the way using both products has worked out for me and here's how I do it.

I use Anchor Seal on all my flame boxelder ends and on those logs that I place a high value on (not according to grade rules).  I use the ACI on all the full board coatings. For instance when I get an order for green flame boxelder, or when I send product overseas I always coat the boards 100% and use the ACI for the sides and the AS for the ends. I used over a gallon on one order recently. The savings add up.

I dip all turning blocks and blanks etc, and I use the ACI for this purpose. I can tell a slight difference between the AS and the ACI and this difference is in viscosity (probably misued in this instance but I mean thickness in application). I have noticed though, that logs I have had for months and a few for over a year, I cannot tell a performance difference in preventing checks and in the wax degrading. of course I have not compiled any kind imperical, measurable data this is just from observations I have made.

One other observation I have made - which is opposite of what I would have thought - is that the ACI takes a freeze noticably better than the AS, at least from my experience. Of course the best thing is to not allow it to freeze at all, but you know how it goes. ::)

I think the AS is probably a better product. I mean when you compare then side by side in their contaimners the AS just seems thicker (it is) and has a consistency which impresses me more. But the end result is not nearly as differnet once the products dry and in how they perform. And so I keep AS on hand and use it when I don't want to have to worry about it, but when I have been out of the AS and used the ACI in its place I have never been disappointed. I can also tell you that ACI private labels for a large number of folks.

I know many of you are going to stick with AS 100% and I understand that for sure. But I make this post in case some of you who like me use quite a bit of end sealer, might be able to save some coin and still get great results. I am not arguing for or against either product because they both have their place in my world.

Just my opinion based on my experience. YMMV
The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

So what you are saying is Anchorseal is your goto sealer for the stuff that's really important? ;)

Dave

It could be interpreted that way. Or I could admit to spending more money than I probably need to just because I have it so engrained in my head that AS is so good. :D

I've used anchorseal for a few years now, in particular for sealing thick bowl turning stock. Really good stuff, and didn't believe it until I tried it.

I am using Bailey's sealer with great results. I put it on with an airless sprayer with a 3' tip extension and it goes very quickly. You can stand 10 feet away and do a good job.  ;)
