Mr. Trapper,

We are UPSTREAM, on the Caddo River, about 30 miles.

And, all is well here!

Good to hear that you are okay. We lived in Texas for a couple of years and I used to deliver papers while I was in school to support us about 4:00 am in the morning - in the spring it would be tornado reports all morning.  :o

I will admit that at times when I describe what the weather can be like up there the Ticos are just plain amazed that people can live up there.  :D Here, a good gust of wind would remove the tin roofs.  ::)
So, how did I end up here anyway?

Glad you folks made it through the storm ok.  The aerial shots really show the devastation.  And all those banged up cars and trucks.  I know its tough to figure where to start on the clean up there is such a mess.  Keep looking forward.

3 1/2 years ago we had our tornado go through Marengo and ruin about 1/2 the town.  One person killed.   It takes a good bit of time to get things going again.  Good people pull together and help each other out.  Watch out of others.  Everybody helped with clean up starting just after the storm moved on.  It took months.

The Good Lord throws things at us and from these things opportunity may come.  As part of debris removal, we took a bunch of cedar limbs and brought them home
. After a month these limbs dried and on a lark I ran them through our grinding hog to make mulch.  Gave me the idea to do the same in Ok with a big grinder and as they say the rest is history.  A new company is born.

Keep positive and look for the good things.

I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

Glad all are OK. Let one of my employees off yesterday and the rest of the week to help in Clinton where he grew up. Said his parents home was OK but several friends homes were damaged. Sent me pics this AM. Just awful!! He knew the worker killed at the boat plant.
Makes you think just how lucky we are.

We have a strip of damage on the Womble starting at the seed orchard in Mt. Ida, extending northeast for 7 miles.  It's about 1/4 mile wide or about 1100 acres of blowdown in various stages of twisted trees.  None on the Mena/Oden except last weeks straight line blows.

I tried to post last night but couldn't, I know first hand the feeling of the folks going thru this latest round of storms. I'm happy that all of you that are my Forestry Forum Friends are ok. I pray every night for the disaster folks and it seem that there's a new disaster every few days. I pray, someday I won't have to hear  of a new one.

Did Arky miss getting hit by the latest rounds of tornados that went through Arkansas?  He hasn't been on the Forum in a couple of days.

I called his sawmill number on Saturday and left a message.  He's not got back to me.  ::)

Nothing in our area Bibby. The naters this weekend were further south, closer to Little Rock. Lindy told me all they got at home was some pretty strong gusts and a little small hail.

I heard there was one that hit Ava, MO.  That's not too far north of y-all and not too far south of Bro.Noble.

Glad to hear everyone is o.k. I was thinking of you when I saw the news. I have been closer than I wanted to a tornado and it was not fun at all.

I didn't know about the one in Ava. Lindy didn't mention it.

Yep,  Ava is about 25 miles NW of us.  Went through there on the way to a wedding in Springfield Sat.(my brother and I talked about going over to the Grizzley store,  but didn't or we might have seen Bibb.).  It pretty well tore up a couple of blocks between the square and the High School.  There were limbs down throught town.  Our daughter lives about 5 miles south of Ava and didn't know anything about it when wecalled to check on them.

We just gots some pretty bad wind.  70 mph stuff and 3 inches of rain in about 30 min.  South of here there were a few people killed in the naters.
We have finally gotten enough dry weather that some work can be done and I have been working except for yesterday when I went trout fishing.  Water was very high but I caught a limit and will smoke them tonight.

Looks like another interesting night.  Radar is showing 100 mph winds, 2" hail, and super cells with strong rotation coming in from Oklahoma.

We've had thunderstorms here to already. Not severe ones with wind yet. But some hail in some areas.

We were quite fortunate.  Lot of twisters but none caused significant damage in our area that I know about.

There was a lot of damage in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.  Think 18 people lost there lives in the storm.
