forks for all
« on: August 25, 2007, 07:46:10 pm »
Wehave had a reasonable wet winter this year, far wetter that recent times. I became very unstuck trying to negiotiate waste away from the sawmill. We only have a Hyster 3.5T fork and it does not like muddy ground. This is my cheap and cheerfull solution. About $100 worth of steel and a day in the workshop.

These forks just hang over the top of the skidder blade and can be fitted/released just by lowering the blade and driving under the "hooks".

The fork section is hinged at the base and retained at the top of the blade with a short piece of chain. This means you can adjust the angle of the forks, and to release the load you flip the chain out of the slot and the lift the blade.

I'll give that one high marks too.  Almost as cute as DanG's bucket with "teefuz".

Richard Pryor would appreciate that connotation.

no probs..but the drive over would be a killer. chains are not built for comfort. short 4*2's taken off the side of the mill, a side product taken from 5m logs as part of the taper or when defects meant it had to be docked out. they were stranded out on the mud with the slab pile untilk we had this arrangement. The main product coming off the "front of the mill is on the hard stand within reach of the hyster.
