crushers

I have heard that a machine called a crusher can clear land with poles up to 4 inch dbh,  shredding and crushing everything in its path and leaving   a four foot path   well  disked behind it as it drives through very rough vegetation.
Does anyone know anything about this ?

Not sure about the name, but they use a similar type machine here in Texas, charge around $350 an acre, and you can wall all over it when done, and a year later it is head high in sprouts.  The ones down here can grind up a log on the ground, up to 8 or so inches.

These are some of the manufacturers of those types of machinery.

I've seen them operate in the woods and a big one can be driven through stuff you can't even walk through and leave a seed bed behind.  You don't want to be anywhere near it when it's operating though.

There was one at sawlex.

They are used for land/timber preparation and non-commercial thinning down here, as well as lot clearing for development.  The only complaint is the expense, which is caused mostly by maintenance.  They require a very high flow of hydraulics, big engines and a vehicle that will protect the operator.
