It sounds like a moded 359 will give me better performance than the 357. I can send it off to a guy who will mod the muffler for $30, that would not be a problem. But then I hear you have to adjust the carb and other things. I havent found any real threads exactly on how to do this so I'm wondering whats involved in retuning the saw and if I can figure it out myself? Does a stock 357 need this done too?

Hello to all.

Definitively sawtroll will obtain that I buy  a stihl 361 :D. But according to everything  I have read it seems that its motor is a little better than 357xp and still more here in Europe  8) 8).

I plan on getting a 357XP when i get home from Iraq...... everything I ever read about it says its a good runner and could handle most tasks.  The 372XP might be a little much, but I do like its brute power, and it does get heavy!


No matter what one you pick, there is another one that would have been better for some tasks, worse at others.

if you're worried about lugging around the extra 1lb of chainsaw, just skip dinner the night before and it'll all balance out :)
