new swampy projects Updated and new photos !!!!!
« on: June 28, 2007, 08:34:51 pm »
It's not done yet but here is a peek at what I have up to the last few evenings after work. the wood is spaulted hackberry and the knot in the middle makes the whole bench look good. Still have to scroll saw out a couple of seahorses next to a piece of coral out of door skin and add them to the outside of each leg.

I remember the day we sawed that log. It was in a burn pile, soooo, we scooched it over to the mill.

The pics do NOT near show the colors around that knot. It was banana yellow with all sorts of reds, greens, purples, and yellows running all around it. The wood SHOULD have been white, but, turned grey from laying around  ::) ::)

Only if you promise not to bring any bombs over and put them near the door. Today at the local bank in town, a guy came in about 4pm and tried to rob the place. He put a bomb at the front door and asked for the money and I guess it all went bad after that. He left the bank and shot at the local police and then hit the highway. Once on US1 he headed north and went a ways and stopped the car and shot at the police some more. then he took off again and the cops finally stop him in Grant and few towns north and the guy shot at the cops and they shot back hitting him somewhere and airlifted him to the hospital ::) ::). I heard that he had another bomb in the car. Did not know what was going on as about 4:15 a crap load of cop cars went hauling butt past my shop and then headed north. About 5:15 a county cop and the bomb disposal unit went by. They still had the road block off at 9:00 when a friend of mine went by. Will have to get the paper in the morning to find out all the details.

I think that 2" piece out of the middle that is left has all the color in it. These are the 1 1/4 pieces off the outside. It was VERY cloudy and trying to rain when the pic were shot. Might be better picture taken day tomorrow.

Jeff, Blind mortis with small finish nail through the face to hold until the gorilla glue dries.

Sawguy21, I am use to the cop cars going by all the time as we have a bad intersection not far from the shop. But the bomb disposal was a new site for me.

Next time, don't modify to add photos. Just hit reply button and post.

When folks log in they usually click "NEW" next to topics, and read new posts to a thread.

Folks may not see ALL the photos the way you did this.  ::) ::) ::)

The benches are not a fashion statement, but, shows the wood that most folks never get to see.

Besides, the buyer lives in a 3 million dollar house.  :o 8) ;D

fixed for swampy by a kind and compassionate admin. ;D

Here are the new pics of the finished bench. This bench is the spaulted hackberry.

And this bench is out of the pecky cypress that pop and I pulled out of the Oklawaha river.
