Ten inches?  All of that bellyachin' was over TEN INCHES?  Heck, that's just normal July rainfall around here. ::)

Man I almost wish it was raining right now. It's so humid it might as well be. It's so hot it is sweltering even for me. Beats the heck out of cold feet though. That cold feet stuff is still fresh in my brain. It hurts to even think about it.

In heaven, their will be no cold feet and no need for 3 pairs of socks. 8)

Coral snakes are generally real small and have to latch on to a finger or toe to get you. But if they do you most likely won't live to tell the tale. Kiing snakes get considerably larger. My sister got out of a hammock when we lived in Corpus Christi and stepped on a coral snake! :o

Sorry to interrupt the rain news, but I just checked back in.  That was a coral snake I saw.  It was real small with the red & black separated by yellow....glad my dog Charlie wasn't nearby.

I'm in North Bama now.  My drought follows me....wish I could send y'all some to Texas!
My name is William, but people call me Pete.  Long story......

I would like to correct myself. I have since read the Wikipedia entry on Coral snakes and my statement . . . . . .
. . . . .  you most likely won't live to tell the tale.  . . . .
seems to be an exaggeration.

I was relying on my childhood admonitions from my mom and dad about playing with snakes which I was want to do. Either they really thought a coral snake was certain death or else they were just trying to keep me from playing with them if i found one, which I never did. By the time I got to the backyard my dad had already took the hoe to the one my sister stepped on.

Whatever the case, the Wikipedia entry says that less than 10% of Coral snake bites proved fatal prior to the development of a Coral snake antivenom, and since the antivenom has been developed no one in the U.S. has died from a bite. Coral snake bites constitute less than 1% of U.S. snake bites according to the article.

Sorry for the innacurate statement. Maybe what my parents meant was that if I did get bit by one I would have wished I was dead. :)

Well, I snuck into Texas again.  Finally got the logging going.  Then, guess what?  Big tropical storm in the Gulf going to drench the area again.  DanG, another Texas curve-ball :).

No rain at the shop or the house, Danny.  Not yet, anyhow.  My vote is to remain that way.   ;D  I have heard that some areas are getting rain.   I know Houston got a double naught dollop of it yesterday.

Went and looked at a few old pines yesterday a fellow's going to be taking down.  Some of the biggest I've ever seen around the Thicket.

T,

I have to cruise a tract this morning, so I hope the rain holds off a little while.  It would make it cooler, though.

Heck, I might even post some Cruising in Texas pics, but that would have to be a new thread instead of this Raining in Texas thread.
