That redwood log is still giving up lumber.  :)   Today Tammy and I resawed some 8 inch cants that corley5 brought home.  We also flattened out his slab that was cut off the side of the log so as the slabber could start slabbin.  We had to trim the edges down on the slab so it would go between my guides. It was still a tight squeeze where we had to make a couple "adjustments" as we sawed the length of the slab.  :)That redwood sure do saw nice though.  :)

I have a connection problem somewhere.  I have to jump it across the solenoid to start it. It wont do anything at the key.

I was just in my wood shed stacking some lumber and had to move a pile of 1 X 4 X 12' redwood boards that I sawed out of some of those cants.

I hadda look at this thread again  ;D  ;D

I'm sure some of our newer members have not seen it.

That was the best day ever.......

I think you might have. :)   That was definitely a good time. The Night that pasbuild became "THEE BOB" is etched in my mind forever.

My BIL is getting married at the end of Sept, so it is likely any extra cash we have will go toward getting us there.  Sure wish we could get down to visit with all of you at this years roast.  It is unlikely but we'll see what shakes out.

ps.  AWESOME thread, btw.  Looks like a ton of fun!

Gary,

I think that's "if you eat enough fiber..."

Of course, I'm pretty sure sawdust counts as fiber...  ;D

Hi All, I thought you might enjoy a small addendum to the tale of the Wisconsin Redwood.

I met "The Bob" a couple months ago thru Stan Peterson, a mutual friend. This past Saturday my friend Stan and I started a refurb project on my old starcraft walleye boat which needed seats, we decided to go see if Bob had something suitable. After digging around for a few minutes Bob spins around and got a big smile going... 'how about Wisconsin redwood' says he.... he marches us out to his storage tent and shows us this slab about the size of a queen size matress... told us the story of the 'Wisconsin Redwood' and said we could find all the info via online search. We dragged that slab out and into the shop where we had a great time slicing out enough to do our seating job. I am attaching a picture now of the work we completed yesterday, will finish up next weekend.

(btw, the flooring is cedar  ;D)

Welcome to the Forestry Forum, whitecap.   :)  I have read that thread and looked at the pictures.  It is good to see old trees/wood live on.  I am finishing building a clock from Redwood sent to me from Minnesota so that it too can live on.
