When referring to soft maple, would that include silver maple?

Yes it does stumpy. I can't believe the prices for soft maple, not that many years ago most was sold for pallet.

Some of our markets specify that they will not take silver maple in with their soft maple.  A lot depends on the end use.  If it is painted stock, then its not of much concern.  Clear finishes make silver maple hard to match.

Silver maple usually comes from along stream banks or in urban settings.

It wasn't that long ago when hard maple wasn't wanted.  Looks like red oak has taken its place as a bottom feeder.

Interesting. I can sell all the nice red oak I can get my mitts on, but dont have much. Got lots of soft maple (20" trees for days) and cant seem to sell it. I need a kiln..... ::)
