I have brought up the "gas tax" before when everyone was squawking about high gas prices. That is a set % of the price of gas, the more gas is at the pump...the more the tax.

Looking at it another way, the tax is supposed to pay for the roads ( is suspect a lot of the money gets diverted to other things - but thats a different subject) so a guy with homebrew fuel isn't paying anything for the use of the road. I guess thats where the revenue guys are coming from.
