Cant Hooks
« on: January 07, 2007, 10:25:52 pm »
I need to purchase another 60" or 70" cant hook and I see Wood Mizer has a line of hooks called LogRite.

Question....are they worth the high price Wood Mizer is selling them for?    Also, are aluminum handles going to stand up to heavy logs?  I feel they could not hold up to good old wood handle.

I'd like to hear from you if you have used these cant hooks.

Thanks;
Robert

Reality of it is that the opposite is true. Those are skookum tools. Wish I had one. Maybe next Christmas. I think most people on the forum swear by them. Joe

Robert, Logrite is the creme de la creme(sp. help me out here, Marcel) Cream of the Crop, best of the best, the bee's knees, etc!  Click on their logo to the left side of your screen.  You may(or may not ???) save a dime or two by ordering direct.  Several of the Forum's sponsors sell Logrite products, some with their own name on them, such as Woodmizer and Baker.  That should tell ya what sort of tool this is! ;D

I have 3 and there is no other cant hook  then LogRite . One with Forum signatures on it and two for using. Any other kind of hook are just decorative wall hangers. Anybody still using a wood handle Canthook out there should just lay it down and leave it out in the sun and weather until its gray and the metal rusty, then sell it on ebay and put what ever you make towards the LogRite you buy.

Another fact. LogRite is just not another Manufacture, they ARE one of us guys.  :)

There is one major flaw in dem Logrite tools, they don't come standard with some of Tamian's special brownies. Even without da brownies they are still a pretty good tool.  ;D

.....

You will not regret getting one, but may regret not getting more than one......

The usual comment (I introduced several guys to the logrite cant hook yesterday at a tree cutting 'party') is Wow, what a bite.  Then a comment like....those cant hooks hadn't changed in 200 yrs, now this new one comes along that is so much better, and grabs like every time and hangs on.

Heya Robbie.
I have two of them(a runt and a 60 incher) I didnt get the A.S.S. model(bigun) as I have a bobcat :D

What I like about these cant hooks is they just about always get a grip on the log and the hangy down part dont smash your fingers when you hold it near the business end. They are the real deal...

We have a Logrite cant hook that we use at the end of the mill.  We flip 23' switch ties with them, and I know they would do alright with large bridge timbers.

However, we do have a pre-Logrite we use on our log deck.  That one is a galvanized pipe with a hook welded to it.  I acts more like a peavey.  Yes, we have bent the handle.  Don't know if we would bend a Logrite.  We got some pretty big boys.   ;D

After using someone else's LogRite I had to have mine, which I do now. I started and finished a topic about it when I was considering one because of the price. Well worth it.

I broke a hook on a wood handled one, I was pretty surprised by that, after I picked myself off the ground  :D
