Wow......  since you are all still here I assume you know when to come in at the right time during those storms.   Not much lightening here in the northern end of the Sacramento Valley in Calif.......... although we have had earthquakes.   The lightening mostly hits in the surrounding mountains miles away.    This thread is impressive.... and scarry...........what do you all do to stay safe ???

Fortunately Im in one of the few red counties in Ca so Im pretty good there although I do have a hard time knowing which side of the fence our Gov is on from time to time.  His wife is hosting the Dali Lama in a big conference coming up.....pretty wierd stuff.  As for the earthquakes....I did use alot of concrete for the footings (60 cubic yards) and put hefty steel strap holdowns on every corner.  So far we have maxed out at a 5.4 earthquake and it stayed on the foundation.    That lightening though......would tend to do a little more than offend  (by the liberals) or shake you around (earthquakes) or cause some smoke (fires ... we live in an irragated green area)........ZAP! and thats it......... instant new hairdo and the heart stops......probably the making for a new horror movie...........

Personally, I use a little hat made of aluminum foil. Keeps the CIA from injecting voices inside my head too!

Can you believe this, another storm comes through and now in my front yard 2 of my oaks took a hit (I think the lightning actually bounced between 3 trees, but two of them show damage, one more than the others)

The hit split one of the branches and it fell off, lucky for me it happened at night.

This is a close up of the broken end of the branch, my neighbors boxer looks on in amazement.

I've got a tree guy coming out to take a look at this one, I sure would hate to loose any of these oaks. I'd hate to lose any trees actually.

Chuck
