Lenny,
I would just like to clarify that our NH current use only allows 10,000 bdft and not 20,000 you did get the 20 cords correct though all for personal use only.

Hey woodmills where are you located in Hudson I would like to meet some of you guys here that are from NH sometime in the future.

                     Thanks Rob..

Rob, I used Ross Smith for a few years, but we had a falling out after he bought my house and barn on Gibson road.  Over the last year and a half I have had Doug hersch do any contract hauling and he is a straight forward good guy, but busy.  He does a lot of land clearing due to having a saw head on his cat excavator.  He runs the circle mill on Mammoth road.  I buy my pine from Al trepanier, mostly lower quality at a real good price.  I am always looking for 16 foot hemlock if you have a line on any let me know.

here is a good one Lenny, my wife used to work at Bensons, and among many other jobs she rode the elephant at the front of the animal parade.  quite a sight and looks real good on the resume. :D

ross was a good buddy but then after he bought my house, and got divorced, things went sour between us.  I hooked him up with larry at the litchfield site, larry was a friend of my lovely wife kathy.  doug has a place in pelham called, of all things, herches sawmill, on mammoth road in pelham.  if you ever get into the house that ross lives in now check out the woodwork cause it is all mine.  I lived there for 17 years and built the kitchen cabinets and did all the floors from rough cut native stock.  It is kinda funny cause I haven't been there since it was sold due to the freak out.  when I built the barn on gibson I tried to make it as tall as I could, and I remeber Ross goin around it with a 14' stick to see if his log truck would fit in it.  we should hook up bein so close.

I ended up with about 3000 bd ft of nicer pine and hemlock from that job, but the home owner could not remember who the logger was.  there is a thread over on tractorbynet.com that has a bunch of pictures on it.  It is titled tree removal question and it is back about three pages on the related topics section.  or try this link

yes that is doug and his log truck.  I used him for that job because his grapple is located on the back of the truck and the pile of logs was in a place where a center loader would have required chaining  to get them close enough.  the rear loader just reached much of the pile and doug packed them in like a jigsaw puzzle.  will make a load of nice studs, beams, and rafters for the house and garage I will build soon.

Greetings to Woodmills, Lenny, and Rob fellow New Hampshireites. :D
I am located up in Barrington. If you are ever in my neck of the woods let me know.

Going back to the Current Use thread Woodmills is correct you only get assesed the 10% on the acreage you remove from current use. I did this a few years ago on my place.

I was glad to get all the feedback on conservation easements. The town of Barrington recently contacted us for this. I have reservations about someone having control over my land. The way I figure it nobody will have the fondness for it and treat the land as well as my wife and I do, in the end I'm just not sure if I trust some government group to keep their word.
The concern we have is that we do not have children and we don't want the place to be developed. We already have enough greedy developers sending us letters indicating they want to buy our property.
I wish there was a way to prevent the land from being developed without giving up full control over it while we are there.

Also on Conservation Easements one should insure that the costs of setting one up such as land survey costs, attorney fees, and other preparation and transaction costs are not more than the benefits derived or they are handled by the benefiting governmental body requesting it.

If you get the northen logger magazine you can pre register for free.  they send an entry ticket and you get a name tag that is color coded to sawmill, logger, or land owner so others know what you do.  I always register but sometimes don't go at the last minute depending on what is goin on.  springfield is easy to go and come back, though I have stayed over there.  bangor is quit a haul I think, but the show is really pretty cool, lotsa Iron and deals and the sawmill shootout is on saturday.

James,

I do get the Northern Logger and Timber Producer and yes it did have the pre reg card in it but I just got off the phone with the people at the NELA and found out that they have already closed the pre reg so now the only way to get in is pay $5 at the gate.

So what do you think do you want to go up there with me??
