The guy I was talking with was bragging about them because they cut both directions and he said they could saw mega lumber per day. I was a little skeptical.

Sawing backwards is a new one on me   That was not an option in 1995.

The Heartwood sawmills saws both ways. I talked to a Heartwood owner at Kiln School. His biggest complaint was sawing the second board blind.

Ask to see the tape    Then let me know what you think  

If speed is the goal then saw both ways.
If quality is the goal then it's a one way ticket

 Back in 93 when I bought my mill , I had a look at the Heartwood mill I liked what I saw but was not impressed with the second board cutting and then it beeing out of my reach money wise .
