One thing I have noticed whilst trawling around various message boards relating to all things 'tree-y' - you Americans don't do things by halfs... You seem to have the biggest and best of everything, both bought or home made.  Your saws are the biggests and best, your vehicles are the biggest and best.... spare a thought for us poor folks out across the water.

A stihl 046 is considered a big saw.... :-/

It's just plain U.S. American (I consider everyone in North and South America to be American) to be competitive in a good natured sort of way. And.....you can't win unless whatever you have is the biggest, and has the most horsepower. :o 8) 8) 8)  It's not enough to just have something that will do the job, it has to be something people will look at and say, WOW! Wish I had one of those. ;D ;D

It just appears that we have the biggest and best of everything.  The term 'yankee ingenuity' was coined from the gift of many here to make do with whatever is at hand.  Read closely and you will find many on this forum are very creative and get the most out of the resources they have available.
BTW my biggest and baddest saw happens to be a Stihl MS 440, not really all that big or bad but it gets the job done :)

I also like the way you are always ribbing each other about things - always seems to be good natured - nice to be able to joke about and for others not to take offence....  ;D

We do have great stuff out here - but seems to be 'just fit for its' purpose' - you guys like to have a bit left in reserve - just in case..... ;) ;)

a couple of friends of mine had/has a Unimog.  One fella, about 23 years ago was logging with his.  It made a great skidder.  H had one with a dump and you could dump straight back or to either side by setting pins. 8)  I was so DanG envieous I could hardly stand it then.  With the winch on the front there was hardly a thing he could not do.  We installed a hydraulic 3 point system on the back with quick releases to pull farm machinery; plows, discs, culta packers, seed drills etc.  We planted 200 plus acres one year with that rig.. ;D

I like that MaxiMogg! It'd really be spiffy if some of the rednecks around here got ahold of it and put some tires on it, and maybe hung a few doodads on. I didn't see the back-end, so I'll just assume it has a nice dog box somewhere back there.  ;D  That rack on top is a nice way to show off a good buck, and there's plenty of room inside to secure the does and spotted fawns. :o
