Would it be possible To reverse the threads so the newest would be on the top?

Simply, is it possible, sure. Will I do it? No.  Do you start reading a book from the back? Do you read right to left? Picture yourself as a first time visitor. How would everything backwords make sense?

Now, I aint completely unreasonable, so explain to me why or how backwards could be better.

After reading your question again, the answer to your question is that the newest threads are already on the top of the topic lists.

I took it that you were referring to the order of the posts within a thread. If thats what you meant my first post still stands :)

ajr,

Here is a tip that may help if you haven't already noticed it.  Threads with a lot of posts have multiple pages.  If you notice the <<page 12345….12>> under the title,  instead of selecting the title of the thread,  select the last number on this page note.  That will bring you to at least the last page of the thread.  If there is a lot of posts already on the last page,  all you'll have to do is scroll down some to get to the end. But that's no big deal.

Woodman,

As much as I enjoy the "A Funny Story" thread,  I sure wouldn't want to have to read it from the start every time just to get to the newest adds. ;)

On whatever page is the most recent (1 of 1, 2 of 2 etc), go to that page and then hit the 'end' key on your computer. When I do that it takes me (logically!) to the bottom of the page- which is where you find the most recent post.

If I know I've kept up with the thread, that's where I go (to the end). If I disremember, I just start at the top- and I VERY much appreciate them being in chronological order. It would bite to have to try to read them backwards, cuz you'd have to scroll DOWN each post and then go UP to the preceding (next in chronological order but preceding on the page) only to have to read it DOWN again, etc. My 2c worth is to leave it like it is.    :P :P ;)   lw

I agree with LW unless there is a way to repeat the last post on page one as the first post on page two.  I often have to go back to the previous page to see if I have missed anyone's input.

I think it would be handy if you could put some kind of symbol on each new reply of a thread. Then you wouldn't have to read the dates to figure out where the last thread that you read was.
I almost didnt post this because I was afraid I would come across ungrateful. I hope you dont take it that way. You have a great forum here which I enjoy very much.

Steve,
If you are not logged in when you come to the forum, you will not see all the neat things that Jeff and the software have included to make life easier for us.

Newly updated threads are marked with a yellow "new" tag and recent posts are  marked with Today. There are a miriad of little tools that you will discover as you become more acquainted with the forum.  There are even parts of the forum that you can't see as a new comer.

Don't come in and peruse as a Guest, log in.  It will make life a lot easier for you.

Tom, I think what Steve is talking about is a little Identifier on each new post within a thread. That is a very good Idea. The problem is, I dont have a clue how I would accomplish that.

I still find it easy enough to go to the bottom of the page and scan up til I get to where I left off. That works unless it's been so long I forgot what I read. And that is directly proportional- usually if I can remember, there's only a few new posts. If it's long enough that I forget, I might as well start at the beginning because I'll be checking things out again anyway. And the first post of the thread gives me a clue. If I say-'oh yeah, I remember this', down I go to the end. If I say 'huh?' then I just start there.   lw
