CSCOLLECTOR,
I talked with the field test engineer and after about 42+ years after the fact here is what he said.

 1. Did Oregon build their saw that used the O&R engine before O&R produced a saw of their own?

"I believe Scotty worked with O&R, not 100% alone. Later we both worked with them on a couple of small saws, one was the only left hand saw I have ever seen. We also have one of these in display in our office area."

2. Can you supply some stats on the large saw so that I can enter it in my webpage?  Engine size, bore, stroke, and all the other details I try to enter for all saws.

"All the records of this project were tossed at least 20 years ago, and my mind is too cluttered with old age, so I can’t give you any of the specific’s, but the displacement was a little over 7 cubes. It had a very distinctive sound or “wine” that you could tell what it was as soon as you heard it."

I'll add more info as I can collect it.

sawguy21,

Thanks, but trust me, I also learn a lot about the product usage and concerns of the loggers/arborists/weekend warriors on this forum.
