"Small Saturday"
« on: June 27, 2002, 09:37:50 pm »
I just had a little thought of a fun thing to do, while making a coupla hunnerd bucks. If an enterprisin' young feller(most of us fall into that category, DonT we?) were to set aside one Saturday a month to WHACK up all those little "one log" jobs from the homeowners and woodworkers that just happen to lay his hands on a log or two, he could make a few bucks, and have a whole buncha fun doing it. You could set a low minimum price, folks could just show up with a stick of some sort, and everybody could swap lies and drink up some iced tea, while waiting for their turn. If it was run right, I'll bet it could become a little community tradition, create a lot of good will for your business, and provide the little guys a chance to get their logs WHACKED up, without being a pain the rest of the time.
Has anybody tried this, or do you have any thoughts on it? My main thought is, to do it on Saturday, so the pore ol' guys(like me) who still work 5 days a week could have a shot at it.

That sounds like a great idea!

Of course, I don't have a saw mill or a log, so take my enthusiasm for what it is worth.

DanG, good idea.   I have been trying to think of a way the keep the general expenses covered around here on weekends.   But I would have to pay someone to collect the gate receipts for admission.  8)   The weekends around here usually end up more "show and tell" than anything.  Most of the time there is little sawing going on.  However, there is always lots of the other kinds of buzzing happening. :-X
