Hi All...

Since I am quite new in this forum, I thought... why not show some more of the forestry sector I am involved in...

As some might already know... I practice forestry in Costa Rica.
Since some 10-15 years, the first big (4000 hectares) Teak plantations were established. These plantations were established for the sole purpose of selling shares of the farms to investors as a long term "green" investment.

Unfortunately, some project owners were tempted by the good business, and used it to fraude, lie and steel money from the honest investors.

Besides this, many project initiaters were not forestry educated people, and came with ridiculasly high growth predictions... which led to many angry investors.

Mainly because of these two matters, the TEAK investment has aquired a bad name.

These days, there are still teak investment projects. the one that were established some 15 years ago are almost ready for their final cut. Every year hundreds of hectares are developed here in Costa Rica and in many other places of latin america.

These organisations have learned that they need solid forestry advice to be able to sell their shares.

We (www.dhforest.com) work for these organisations / companies as an independend forestry advisor. We make forestry maps, managementplans, yearly inventory, developement plans, execute management control.

some of the teak investment companies around are:

Any questions.....--->   Glad to help
