If mine, I would put on a 2-part epoxy pour on finish. I used it on a maple slab on my bar, and it has held up well over the years. It gives with the wood, and has stayed plyable enough to not crack.

Here's a chess board that I made a few years ago when I only had the C'saw mill.

The woods are New Zealand Kauri and Tasmanian Blackwood
