Stihl 034AV super
« on: March 08, 2005, 12:28:04 pm »
I posted this earlier about a different saw.  When cold my Stihl 034AV super will start with 1 or 2 pulls but after a few minutes it quits and won't start. I find little or no spark at the plug when cranked. The plug is not fouled and replacement does not help. If the saw sat for a day or so it would restart and then repeat the same scenario. Now, after 3 days, it won't start at all. I believe this saw has a all electronic ignition. Can this be tested and how to do it?

The ignition should be maintenance free. If there is a prob with it, it should be replaced with no costs (lifelong warranty...not sure if only in Germany) I would say no  or low compression.

had put my 034 away for the winter , pulled it out 2 weeks ago and it was hard to start and ran like crap when it did.
pulled the plastic off , checked the plug and it had fuel on it figured i had an ignition problem , pulled to start and saw sparks were the kill swich wire insulation had chaffed through and was shorting out on the veins of the flywheel.
1 ziptie latter all is well
