Drying Poplar
« on: January 28, 2005, 11:25:10 am »
Tulip poplar to be precise.  Now that ya'll got me on the right track with the oak.  I haven't seen too much said about poplar.  What are the pitfalls of thickness, widths, etc.?  Cupping a problem?

I am strictly air drying things at this point.  Time isn't a factor.  Thanks again for ya'll's help.
Love the smell of sawdust in the morning...and lurking on this site!

I haven't had any serious trouble with Tulip poplar. If your end use is moldings or cabinet work be careful of sticker stain.Saw most 4/4 and standard width,as long as log allows.
