Who is www.forestryforum.com?
« on: March 10, 2001, 03:31:54 pm »
We may be having a change coming. I'm not sure if you will even notice when it happens.

I noticed the domain name www.forestryforum.com had never been taken. So guess what. I bought it. So sometime in the future, if your old bookmark does not work, try typing in www.forestryforum.com and we will be there! I needed a new place seperate from the Timber Buyers Network to host the site because of the space it takes up.

Everytime we write a message, the site grows, and so far I have refused to delete any old threads. About the time I do, someone will want to refer back to something that I thought was not important enough to keep. So, unless something drastic happens, I will never delete old messages.

O.K. Before I yell at Marty, here is my deal on Hats. I have seen "hat discussions" before on boards, so I will define my Hat policy.

I will never have a contest where the most posts gets a prize. But I will, however show my appreciation for being a loyal board member, by posting regular, and achieving a certain level of posts.

My Hats are very good hats, so they are worth the effort, and time it takes to get one! This sounds like a lot, but it really is not, once you reach 200 posts, you get a hat.

Now MARTY!
Yes, Marty has a hat. (tell them how nice it is) Marty was one of our first Michigan landowners to get on here and post, or at least visit regularly. There were a couple times when Marty's posts, and the answers to his questions, were the only posts for the week! So that is why Marty got a hat early. The bad part about that is, when Marty gets to 200 posts, I am going to go get his hat back!

NOPE! Never competition, the word is complimentation. I am afraid that is what he thinks too Hugh, and that is to bad, to many good things that the sites could be doing together. I asked him to stop by for coffee here, and he said "I can't make no money there." Makes me feel a little sad.

We were going to do a joint contest, he has one of my original oil paintings sitting in his Alabama office as a prize. The last couple times I brought it up, He pretty much ignored me. So, I don't quite know what to do about that now. Hope we can still do it.

Jeff there are a couple of things that come to mind here.
One--he is holding your painting hostage.
Has he asked you for a hat?

Two--he has hung the painting on his wall and he
doesn't want to give it up.
The painting must be pretty darn good!

Three--any other message board makes him nervous.
Shame we all just can't get along and learn
      from each other.
After all it's only trees and not weapons
      secrets.

Jeff:

I really like the new forum interface. Nice clean look. Great idea on the forestryforum.com idea. I was wondering how you were going to deal with the space/memory issue?

Hope your members stay true and continuing sharing this valuable information resource. Good discussion and knowledge are a winning combination.

Thanks for all of your hard work and efforts. You deserve a hat!
