I have a Lt40 with the cat diesel. My debarker arm has stopped working. The motor will swing the arm in but not out. I metered the wires at the motor connection when swinging out and got no voltage. Simple as a bad toggle switch? it got to late to tear into the control box.... Thoughts?

Hey all, never knew bring retired was gonna be so intense-I spend essentially no time online forums these days, but I've made sure to keep my registration up on this one.

This regarding timber that loggers want, and will harvest in forestry operations. In the past month, I have come across two timber people who have mentioned that hickory is not desirable forestry-wise and that surprised me, I thought the opposite. One was a forester discussing forestry management and the focus was white oak but he also mentioned other desirables to nurture along with it but hickory was a negative. Wish he would have elaborated more. Other guy drives a logtruck here and he was thinking that the mills don't even want it in hardwood loads, period. I don't get it. I love it as firewood anyway!Read More

Forgive me friends, but I have questions.

I'm planning on putting some fresh sawn 8x8 and/or 6x6 timbers down on top of some level bases spread 8ft apart. Each timber will be 8ft in length. Do I have to worry about these timbers bowing or warping? I'm trying to use mostly white oak for the base, and originally I was going to put the bases 6ft apart, but I really want to go 8ft lengths to dig less holes. Also how many inches of each timber should sit on each base? Read More
